The Vessel “DRACO”

DRACO is a Duckworth XL 30, the flagship of Duckworth’s amazing line of boats. Duckworth is a premier Pacific Northwest brand with an understandable fanfare and reputation for construction excellence and thoughtful design. Powered by twin Yamaha 300 horsepower motors, Draco tops out near 50 mph, though we normally cruise at 28 mph. Draco’s electronics include Garmin chartplotters, radar, AIS, and VHF. All safety equipment is per US Coast Guard regulations.

Draco seats 6 adult passengers with ease with two passenger seats up front and two benches of a dinette facing each other. A full size stand up head is great when nature calls. The fish deck is large and can easily accommodate 6 deck chairs if the weather allows.

Our former boat, Peist, was a 2016 Hewescraft 240 Pacific Explorer. Hewescraft has been making aluminum boats for over 70 years and is one of the most trusted builders in the industry. Powered by twin Yamaha 150 horsepower engines, she tops out over 44 mph and cruises around 30 mph. A good soul purchased Peist in 2020 and Draco was custom ordered.

As for the name, a Peist is a mythical Celtic sea dragon. Keeping with the dragon theme, Draco is Latin for dragon, though pop culture references for the name are numerous.
